If you are being offered a very low price for a blue tongue skink lizard that it too good to be true then it probably is. Most of the time, people catch wild lizards, keep them in an enclosure for some months and then sell them of as home bred ones. This is exactly what you have to avoid, look for a dealer who has a good reputation. Discuss with your friends about pet shop owners in your area and then try to locate them online, if you do not have any contacts in this regard, and then read the testimonials and customer opinions about a particular online web store. Email them to ask details about different breeds and try to analyze how knowledgeable and experienced they are. If the web store is taking too long to reply or is hesitant to show pictures, then it may be a good idea to start looking for a different pet store.

Sometimes the pictures that a particular dealer sends you are fraud or photo shopped to make the animal look healthy with brighter colors; you can judge this by asking the person to send multiple shots of the animal. See if the entire shots match with each other in terms of color and scenery, if you find something fishy do not be afraid to ask questions about it.
